The Methodist Prayer Chapel is the dream and gift of a retired minister and his wife who requested, simply, that the “Architecture take advantage of the surrounding environment.” Sited on a pristine 129-acre site, the Chapel is free-standing in a blue jack oak hammock on the shore of Lake Griffin. The diminutive 550 -sq. ft. structure blends with the beige sand and gray texture of the oak trunks, respecting its environment and providing individual and family prayer opportunity.
In addition to serving religious groups throughout Florida. The Center has grown into a national and international ecumenical retreat site, serving approximately 50,000 visitors in 2006. Scheduled over the next few weeks are retreats by the National Council of Churches and Seventh Day Adventists of North America (U.S. and Canada).
