Design services included master planning, programming, contract documents and construction phase services for a new church and education building. The existing church was renovated for use as a fellowship hall.
The church has a cruciform plan seating 850 worshipers. The structure is a simple, but elegant, combination of steel beams softened by wood infill. A continuous clerestory window system "lifts" the upper nave and transepts, accentuating the cruciform statement. The design creates a strong hierarchy of entrance experiences, from vaulted "gathering area," to welcoming narthex, to nave. The "gathering area" connects and transitions the new church to the renovated fellowship hall. RLF assisted in artwork for extensive etched glass work in the narthex and nave. The project was recognized by a Craftsmanship Award from the Central Florida Builder's Exchange.
