Groundbreaking of the Jack Rogers Habitat for Humanity Home

Friday, October 17, 2008, was “The House that Jack Built” groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of the Jack Rogers Habitat House at Denning Drive and English Court.  It was a gloriously sunny afternoon with more than 50 attendees.  Steve Schoene was the emcee of ceremonies who first introduced Steve Langston paying tribute to Jack’s legacy of work and contributions to the community.  Schoene then introduced Dr. Thad Seymour, Chairman of the Winter Park/Maitland Habitat district, who is a dear friend of Jack and family.  Introductions continued with the Mayor of Winter Park, David Strong, and finally the Reverend Wohlever offering a blessing to the ceremony, the grounds, the family and Habitat’s good works.  The shovels were handed out to Jack Rogers, Mayor Strong, Dr. Seymour, Steve Langston and Ron Lowry to break ground for this momentous occasion.

Please stay tuned for the construction development of the Habitat site and upcoming volunteer requests!
