RLF is part of a joint venture to provide design services for the new Veteran Affairs Medical Center campus located within the “Medical City” at Lake Nona, Florida. The new campus will accommodate approximately 1.15 million sf of facilities, as well as associated site work and surface parking. The new 134-bed hospital will provide a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services to Veterans in Central Florida. Additional programming includes an ER, diagnostic imaging, laboratories, pharmacy, multi-specialty care clinic, 120-bed community living center, 60-bed domiciliary (residential rehab), central energy plant and other support services.
This project incorporates sustainable design principles including prescribing the use of recovered materials, achieving waste reduction, and energy efficiency in design. The project is being designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
