The facility consists of essentially three clinics in one building, an outpatient clinic, consisting of distinct recruit and permanent party components and a recruit inprocessing clinic. To accomplish this, the building has been broken into three segments. To conserve scarce site, a two-story mass houses the permanent party outpatient clinic, specialty clinics and support space. Two complementary one-story masses house the recruit outpatient clinic and recruit inprocessing respectively.
Through simple massing, use of materials, bold articulation of elements and arrangement of fenestration, the building recalls the functional nature of the recruit depot’s rich historical heritage. The building enhances the architectural vocabulary of the installation and uses common exterior design elements to reinforce its fit.
