The 420,000 SF hospital is situated on a heavily wooded site between a wetlands to the east and wildlife corridor to the west. The long axis to the building and the atrium are oriented for maximum solar control and day lighting benefit.
The hospital building is organized into 2 main blocks of space, separated by an atrium. Each block is organized into 3 floor levels. To the north, the primary Hospital block is classified as Health Care Occupancy. To the south, the primary clinical block is classified as Business Occupancy. Clear definition and separation of Hospital and Business occupancies results in considerable cost savings to the Owner.
In addition to making a strong hospitality statement, the atrium is used as the principle organizing and way-finding element. Primary patient corridors, reception stations, waiting areas, dining, and other patient services are located in the atrium.
