The renovation of the Arnold Palmer Hospital is separated into three phases and three floors of the existing eight-story facility. The first and second phases of the program provide two floors for a new outpatient and inpatient oncology center themed around a Florida golf course experience. The third phase provides one floor for a new dialysis center themed around Jack and the Beanstalk.

The inpatient/outpatient oncology with the Florida golf theme features floor patterns to simulate a golf course and mammals or water animals scattered along the walls for visual interest. These creatures were carefully selected by the staff and patients to be suitable for the unit. Special considerations are given to the nurse stations as a focal point to visitors and to enhance the staff’s working surroundings as well as the use of natural light and its progression through the space.
