Lake Highland Preparatory School converted a church and Sunday school building to a Middle School campus. The project preserved the historic landmark façade of the former church. Now known as the Charles Clayton Campus, this 3.5 acre site is separate from school’s main campus.
The site work consisted of removing three old frame residences to create space for parent parking and drop-off/pick-up areas, staff parking, bus drop-off/pick-up areas and athletic fields. The interior was remodeled to accommodate 400 students in 17 classrooms, 4 science rooms, 2 computer labs, media center and art room. The former gymnasium received a new wood floor and locker rooms while the former sanctuary has been converted to a 750-seat auditorium.
Upgrades throughout the building included a fire sprinkler
and fire alarm system, new electrical, indirect lighting and energy efficient mechanical services, communications and internet access.
