This project presents the opportunity to create a "community" for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation of more than 5,000 service personnel based in Naples, Italy. The design addresses strict environmental and political concerns and meets schedule and budget constraints dictated by Congress.
Personnel and air side areas are created within the Master Plan. Personnel facilities include child care, health care, housing, dining, wellness / gymnasium / pool, service and retail functions, bank, theater, library, bookstore, chapel, post office, restaurant, club and administrative areas. Airside facilities include a passenger terminal, air cargo and hangar complex, public works and vehicle maintenance facility.
The 450,000 sf project was designed and constructed in several phases over a period of ten years.
